Occupational Therapists (OT’s) work with children to develop the skills needed to complete their activities of daily living. These activities can include playing games, using the toilet, eating a meal, handwriting and getting dressed. At In Home OT we work collaboratively with children and their families to develop a holistic view of their needs before working together to implement strategies in their home.
We offer support in the following areas:
See below for further information about our service areas
Fine motor skills are related to the movement and coordination of our hands and fingers. These skills are vital for so many tasks children engage in, including handwriting, cutlery use, painting, shoe tying, playing, etc.
Gross motor skills include the movement of large muscles like your arms, legs and torso. These skills are used to run, jump, put on clothing, play on a playground, ride a bike, etc.
Self care tasks are all the things we do to look after ourselves including brushing teeth, showering, grooming tasks, using the toilet, sleeping and eating.
Emotional regulation refers to the skills people use to effectively manage and respond to their emotions and emotional situations.
Social skills include all the things we do when interacting with others. For children these can include sharing toys, taking turns, negotiating in play, conflict resolution, etc.
